I stumbled upon a mom and pop video store that was frozen in time when I was driving down the road from my house in Connecticut late last year. I peeked in the window of the video store and couldn't believe VHS tapes this place had!
The sign on the door said call the owner and he’ll open it up for you. So I did. And Bob, the owner, and I hit it off right away. We filmed multiple episodes at the video store on Super VHS. Bob, who has owned the Video 7 video store since 1984, talked about the store’s history, amazing stories from the store, and why it has remained frozen in time, as if he had hit the pause button so many years ago.
Take a look at the first episode that we’ve put together. And if you like it, please share it with others. To help get the word out about this project, to preserve this video store, and create new memories there, we created an app called Instantly Dated that you can download for iOS or Android.
This first episode is also available to watch on Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and as a video podcast. Just search for "Instantly Dated."
